The following are some of the most popular questions we’ve received regarding volunteering at Schofield Care. If you have further questions, please contact Sunanda Kern, Volunteer Coordinator at 716-874-1566, ext. 6324 or by email at info@schofieldcare.org.

Who volunteers?
Schofield’s volunteers are as unique as the individuals we serve. Homemakers, retirees, students and professionals devote their time and talents to all of our programs. We encourage individuals who are 14 or older to apply.

How much time do I have to commit?
Volunteers offer their time weekdays or weekends, during the day or in the evening, at a time that accommodates both their schedules and the needs of Schofield.

Can my community group volunteer?
Yes! We welcome supervised community organizations. We realize that life is hectic and many people can only volunteer on a minimal basis. Schofield is open to partners willing to provide this valuable community service. Often groups sponsor BINGO parties for our residents, help with craft projects, assist with concerts and other inter-generational opportunities.

Do you provide training?
All volunteers receive a thorough orientation to Schofield and training by employees and other volunteers.

Why volunteer?
Tangible benefits for volunteers include free parking, special recognition events and more! However, the intangible benefits are what keep our volunteers coming back. As a volunteer recently said, “It is rewarding – I gain more than I give!”
