Free Wellness Workshops Begin at Schofield Sept. 13

Kenmore, NY – Aug. 15, 2018 – The community is invited to attend free wellness programs starting Thursday, Sept. 13 at the Mondello Wellness & Family Center located at Schofield Residence, 3333 Elmwood Avenue in the Town of Tonawanda.

Harvest Soup and Recipe Makeovers will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13. Ben the chef is back and this time he’ll be making Sweet Potato Leek Soup to try. Ben says it’s easy to add things to the recipe and both foods are in season in the fall.  Guests will also learn some recipe makeovers to enliven dining pleasure! The workshop is presented by Benjamin Glurich, Registered Dietitian with Cooperative Extension/Cornell University.

On Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m, a field nutritionist from the Food Bank of WNY will present “Stretching Your Food Dollars.” A nutritionist from Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables will be on hand to lead a discussion about eating healthy on a budget. The fun and interactive workshop includes a cooking demonstration with a recipe that is also affordable.

“Getting Ready to Move from Your Home” will be offered on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.

Learn the top 10 things to do to make a move less stressful and affordable. The workshop is presented by Larry Raines, a Certified Relocation Specialist with Caring Transitions.
