- Continuing Schofield's mission of caring...
- "May we ask for your assistance in our endeavor to add sunshine to the lives of those whom we are trying to help?"
--Dr. Jennie Schofield
In the early 1900's, Dr. Jennie Schofield began her service to the community by lending wheelchairs to individuals in the community who could not afford to buy them. With help from a group of dedicated volunteers, she raised funds to begin the work of the Wheel Chair Guild, and in 1910 founded the Wheel Chair Home.
Without those early financial supporters, the work we do today would not have been possible. Today, as a not-for-profit organization, Schofield still depends on the generosity of our friends, our neighbors and the family members of those we serve to help carry on Dr. Schofield's mission.
There are many ways you can contribute to Schofield including a gift to our annual appeal, memorial gifts, or naming Schofield in your will.
Schofield has a variety of methods to recognize and thank our financial contributors. One permanent reminder of the generosity of our donors is a Donor Recognition Wall located in the lobby of our nursing facility. Individuals and organizations that have contributed at different levels receive an engraved nameplate on this wall.
These recognition levels, and their respective dollar amounts, are:
- Friend: $1,000 - $2,499
- Sponsor: $2,500 - $4,999
- Patron: $5,000 - $9,999
- Fellow: $10,000 and higher.
Jennie Schofield Society
In addition to these recognition levels, there is also a separate classification established for the Jennie Schofield Society. Members of the Jennie Schofield Society are those individuals who have identified the Schofield Residence and our affiliate organizations, through bequests or estate gifts, in their wills.
Memorial and Special Occasion Gifts
A Memorial Contribution to the Schofield Foundation is a special way for you to honor and remember a loved one, while supporting the essential services we provide.
Never sure what to give the person who has everything? Special Occasion gifts may be made to Schofield Foundation in honor of milestones such as birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, mother’s day or father’s day. These contributions are a beautiful way to honor a loved one by making a donation in their name.
All gifts made to the Schofield Foundation are acknowledged to both the family and the donor, and are also acknowledged in Schofield’s community newsletter, the “Scope.” In addition, all gifts accepted by the Foundation are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
Donation forms and envelopes are available by calling our Administration department at (716) 874-1566, extension 305. A printable form is also available below.
Other Types of Donations
There are other ways available, besides cash and similar pledges, to donate directly to the Schofield Foundation. Significant tax savings may be realized through these other types of donations. Other types of donations include gifts of: Closely Held Stock, Investment Securities and Traded Stocks, Real Estate (both outright and fractional interests), Life Insurance, Personal Property such as Jewelry, Silver, Antiques, Works of Art, Coin or Stamp Collections.
Donate Your Car or Boat
The Schofield Foundation hopes that the last trip you make in your car is to Charity Fundings: An organization which accepts donated cars, trucks, boats and recreational vehicles and in turn auctions them to dealers and dismantlers. The proceeds, minus auction and handling fees, go to the donor's charity of choice, such as Schofield. You will receive a receipt for the fair market value of your contribution and the proceeds will be directed to the Schofield Foundation. It's a wonderful way to dispose of unwanted cars and at the same time, contribute to the Schofield Foundation.
Call us at (716) 874-1566, extension 305, or email Our Administration Department, for any answers you might need to help you start the gift process.
