2000's - Expanding For the New Millenium

Schofield's First WebsiteSchofield entered the new millennium by launching our first website in February 2000 - http://www.schofieldcare.org/

Schofield formed a Quality and Performance Management department to address the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and new Corporate Compliance requirements.

Expansion was the main highlight of the second half of the decade. In 2007, Schofield Residence received approval from the New York State Department of Health to begin renovation on an expanded Adult Day Health Care Program at Sheehan Health Network. In June 2007 renovations began and on October 29, 2007, the doors opened at the newly renovated space. This expansion created the largest Adult Day Health Care Program in Upstate New York with the capacity to serve over 200 clients.

Ribbon Cutting at Schofield Adult Day Health CareThe Network in Aging of Western New York presented its "Program Award of Excellence" to the Schofield Adult Day Health Care Program at their Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 30, 2008.

A sad note in Schofield's history happened in 2008, when after many decades of holding luncheon/card parties, bake sales and raffles, the Schofield Residence Junior Board came to the difficult decision to disband their membership and dissolve the organization. Members of the Schofield Junior Board had raised funds to support us for over 75 years. With increasing difficulty in recruiting members, something shared by many volunteer membership organizations, the Junior Board made a final donation of nearly $3,750 to Schofield Residence.

In 2008, Schofield Home Health Care Services was approved to offer Home and Community Support Services (HCSS) Aides to provide daily living supports to TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) program participants.

The Schofield Residence launched the Schofield Adult Wellness Center, a community support program for wellness education, in November 2008.

As the decade of the 2000's ended, technology updates were a focus. A new staff education program called Silverchair debuted. The Long Term Home Health Care Program began a transition to paperless Point of Care laptop computers.

Although the 2000's started with a new website, by the end of the decade it was time for something new. Schofield finished the decade by launching a completely overhauled site (this one) in December 2009.
